Dennis Wayne Williams, 74, of Pampa, Texas, took his final ride over the endless roads of Heaven on the morning of Saturday, January 25, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas. He was born in Canadian, Texas on June 26, 1950, to Dennis L. Williams and Nona L. Gray.
Dennis attended Pampa High School and like many others, sacrificed his senior year to join the United States Army where he served in the Viet Nam War and remained in the Army for six years being honorably discharged in 1973. Following his discharge, he returned home to the Gray County area and started his career in the oilfield as a pumper until going to work at National Oilwell Varco as an electrician until his retirement.
After finding "the one", Dennis proposed, and Teri accepted. They exchanged vows and recently celebrated their 24th anniversary in Hawaii together. Dennis was certainly a Harley enthusiast to say the least and according to Teri, they must have put about a million miles on his bike traveling anywhere and everywhere. He did a little fishing now and then, and he enjoyed walking his dogs, Stub and Newton. There probably wasn't a poker run, or toy run that he didn't participate in, as mentioned earlier, he was a bit of a Harley buff - and besides, it was a perfect reason to ride his bike for a good cause!
He loved his VFW family and was active in the post serving as Sr Vice President as well as on the board several times. Dennis was very observant, he typically sat back and listened while taking in his surroundings and the goings on around him. He was blessed with the gift of discernment and could read people within minutes. He was very in tune with his intuition and very rarely did it steer him wrong.
Not always serious, Dennis did have an extremely ornery streak. He loved pulling practical jokes on others and got his greatest kicks out of scaring the kids with his masks and scary stories. All in all, Dennis' strong will and hard-headedness as well as his love of laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Upon his arrival in glory, he was reunited with his parents, Dennis and Nona as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
His presence will be remembered and cherished by his wife of 24 years, Teri Williams of Pampa; son, Dennis L. Williams of Schertz, TX; daughter, Jennifer L. Williams of Amarillo; stepson, Joshua Harris and wife Samantha of Eagle, Idaho; a brother, Greg Worden of El Paso, TX; two sisters, Cheryl Underwood and husband Ron of Pampa, Wanda Clark of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Madison Williams, Isabella Williams, Dillon Helfer and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will all miss him dearly.
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life Remembrance Gathering for Dennis' family and friends to be able to reminisce and share favorite memories of him on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, at the Pampa VFW Post 1657, 105 S. Cuyler Street. His family has entrusted his cremation care to Winegeart Funeral Home.
For those preferring to make a donation in memory of Dennis, his family suggests they be made to the Pampa VFW Post 1657, P.O. Box 2684, Pampa, TX 79066-2684.
