Dennis J. Zellner, 82, Luxemburg, passed away on January 6, 2025, at Autumn Fields. He was born on December 4, 1942, in the town of Luxemburg to the late Alois J Zellner and Marie J (Delongville) Zellner. On September 7, 1963, he married Mary Ann VandenPlas at St. Hubert Church, Sugarbush.
Dennis and Mary Ann took over the Zellner family farm in 1964. They operated the farm until their retirement. Dennis also trucked milk for Arnie Michiels and Bernard VandenPlas.
Dennis is survived by his four children: Annette (Jerry) Shefchik, Sherri (Rob) Alexander, Rodney (Sandi) Zellner, Louie (Lori) Zellner; seven grandchildren: Eric (Kara) Zehren, Adam (Marissa) Zehren, Cory (Taylor) Romdenne, Mariah (special friend Tyson Featherston) Romdenne, Brady (Shelby) Zellner, Ethan Zellner, Kyle (Karissa) Buresh; eight great-grandchildren: Cayden, Colton, Callie, Henley, Kendall, Audrey, Layla, Jax; six step-grandchildren: Angie (Kory) Paplham, Jess (Bryan) Bertsche, Brandon (Danielle) Alexander, Aaron (Ben) Alexander-Wolf, Mariah (Travis) Thiry, Jake Alexander; thirteen step-great-grandchildren: Haley, Breleigh, Kinslie, Ethan, Isaac, Lilie, Carter, Easton, Chase, Braelynn, Kaylee, Cashden, Jesse; one brother and sister-in-law, Lyle (Marci) Zellner, one sister, Kathi VanDenPlas, one sister-in-law, Bev Zellner, one brother-in-law, Jim Salentine; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Hubert (Doris) VandenPlas, Marlene (Richard) Dorner, Doloris VandenPlas; six godchildren: Lynn Curry, Nathan VanDenPlas, Todd Zellner, Diane Schlies, Jamie VandenPlas, Tony Dorner, and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann; parents; one brother, Ron Zellner; two sisters, Janice Etienne, Mary Salentine; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Florence VandenPlas; two brothers-in-law, Joe Etienne and Myron VanDenPlas.
Family and friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Church, Luxemburg, on Friday, January 10, 2025, between 3:00 and 6:00 PM. Closing parish prayer service at 6:00 PM with Deacon Bob Miller. Visitation continues Saturday, January 11, 2025, between 9:00 and 10:45 AM at the church. Funeral 11:00 AM on Saturday, at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg, with Rev. Daniel Schuster officiating. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Luxemburg.
