Derek J. Boutilier, aged 35, of Canton, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on March 20, 2025. Born on October 10, 1989, in Norwood, MA, to his mother Mary Boutilier and his late father Robert Boutilier. Derek was raised by his mother and the late James Balerna. He was a cherished son, a playful brother, and an adoring father, whose presence brought light and laughter to those around him.
Derek's professional career consisted of Landscaping and Tow Truck Driver, most recent is Center Auto Body, who treated him like family. Derek has worked for almost every tow company in the local and Boston area, where he was not only respected for his skill but also beloved for his sense of humor and passion for the industry. Derek's commitment to his job was second only to his devotion to his family, particularly to his daughter, Abrianna, who was his princess.
Canton resident for the last 18 years was raised in Norwood where Derek's roots ran deep with his family and friends. He was known for his big heart, tell it like it is attitude and his willingness to lend a hand. His love for his work was evident to all who knew him, but it was his unconditional love for his family, his dogs and his daughter that truly defined him. Derek's greatest accomplishment in life was being a father and he embraced every moment with Abrianna with love, pride and joy. They had a connection like no other, they were truly one of a kind. He was her hero, her strength and her idol. He cared for her like no other. She was his pride and joy and always put her needs and happiness above all else. Abby truly is Derek's daughter Always Daddy's Little Girl!
Derek's sense of adventure was as boundless as his heart. He relished the thrill of dirt bike riding, a hobby that brought him both excitement and a sense of freedom. His playful spirit often shone through in the gentle teasing of his older sister, Jennifer, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. The laughter they shared will be a memory that she, along with the rest of his family, will hold dear forever.
Family vacations in New Hampshire were a highlight for Derek, where he could unwind and create lasting memories with his loved ones. Derek's love for his mother showed most on these trips as they reminded him and his sister of the dedication and love she unconditionally gave them. Those who were fortunate enough to join him on these getaways experienced the full depth of his love for family and excitement for adventure.
Derek's legacy is one of love, laughter, and loyalty. He was a son who honored his parents, a brother who brought joy, and a father who gave his all. He is survived by his mother Mary Boutilier, his sister Jennifer Boutilier, his brother-in-law James Taylor, his niece Haley Taylor and nephew Matthew Taylor. He is also survived by his beloved daughter, Abrianna Boutilier, and her mother Christina Troiano and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be remembered by countless friends and coworkers whose lives he has touched.
As we bid farewell to Derek J. Boutilier, we celebrate a life lived with passion and purpose. Though his time with us was cut short, the impact he made will remain timeless.
