Derek Green Obituary
Derek was born on March, 2nd, 2001, in Knoxville Tennessee to parents, Darren Green and Shonda Watson. He was an excellent student, and his dedication to his education led him to earn a bachelor's degree in business administration from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). Derek earned the highest award for achievement in the Dale Carnegie course. After graduating, he took on a management role in 2019 at FedEx, where he made a positive impact on those around him. He was recognized as the Employee of the Month at FedEx from 2021 to 2024, highlighting his persistent dedication and hard work. Derek had a passion for fishing and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed playing his Xbox with friends online. His favorite way to relax was playing golf.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, James "Jim" McCarter.
He is survived by his mother, Shonda (Shane) Watson; father, Darren (Monica) Green; sister, Kaitlyn Watson; brother, Matthew Green; grandparents, Dallas and Sandra Green; grandmother, Glenda Pratt; aunts, Briana (Ron) Clark, Anneliesje (Paul) Carter, Pam (Billy) McCleary, Beth (Ray) Idles, and Kellye (Josh) Rogers; uncles, Jay (Missy) McCarter and Scott (Melissa) Smith; and several other cousins who will miss him greatly.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 10th, 2025, at Fellowship Church Of Knoxville ( 8000 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, TN 37909) with a funeral service to follow. RD McClenagan and Devon Accardi will officiate the service.

Derek was such an amazing mature and respectful young man. As was his devotion and love for his mom. He left an impression that will remain forever! I´m praying for comfort to all by the many treasured memories.

I worked with Derek at Nova when he was around 15 years old. He was a great guy with a good head on his shoulders. My son was 6 years old and had an interest in golf. Derek gave him a set of clubs that he had grown out of. My son never met Derek, but his kindness is still remembered by him. We are extremely sorry for your loss. You are in our prayers.
