God saw the road was getting rough, the hills were hard to climb. He gently closed those loving eyes and whispered, "Peace Be Thine". On a peaceful Sunday afternoon on April 7, 2024, Derek Jerome Hollinger entered eternal rest.
Derek Jerome Hollinger was born on February 11,1961 in Port Chester, New York, to the late Claude and Deloris Hollinger. He was the second oldest of five siblings.
Derek loved the Lord and committed himself to Christ and was a member of New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church in Decatur, GA.
Derek graduated from Port Chester High School in Port Chester, New York where he dominated and excelled in basketball and football. He went on to graduate from the University of New Haven in New Haven, Connecticut and received a degree in Computer Technology. He then received a Certificate in Data Processing from the Albert Merrill School in New York City before his career led him to Atlanta, GA.
Derek's career began as a Computer Analyst at Georgia Pacific in the 90's. He went on to apply his technological skills at Bellsouth Mobility as a Computer Tech. From there he went on to Cox Enterprises to continue his computer science career. There were several other career changes over the years at various companies where he was productive and efficient in logistics, professional branding, technological proficiency, and business data processing.
Derek Hollinger and Monica Hightower were united in marriage in Atlanta, Georgia on September 5,1992. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Asia Joi Hollinger. Derek was a loving and supportive father. Together, their favorite past time was watching the Atlanta Falcons games on Sunday though he was Miami Dolphins fan. One of his greatest accomplishments will be the significant impact he had on the lives of everyone that he touched.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Deloris F. Hollinger, father, Claude Hollinger, Jr., and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
With fond and precious memories of his kind heart and loving smile. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Monica Hollinger and his beloved daughter, Asia Joi Hollinger. Brothers, Kenneth Ray, Maurice Antoine and Lawrence Florentino (Millicent) and sister, LaDenna Renee along with a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews. His passing leaves a void that will never be filled.
