Derek Duncan Nettleman of Lansing,
Passed away May 2, 2024, at the age of 55. Derek was born in Lansing, MI, February 22, 1969, the son of Bruce and Fleeta (Foland) Nettleman. He was a 1986 graduate of St. John's High School. Derek worked for Dart Container as a scheduler and was a secretary for Tarry Chiropractic. He was a talented musician playing bass guitar with several different bands. Derek was such a fun, animated man who had many friends. His friend and owner of the Meat Restaurant in Lansing, named a sandwich after Derek called the "Nettlearchy". Derek took it upon himself to become an ordained minister so that he could marry his friends. He leaves behind two children who will miss the times spent with their dad.
Derek is survived by his twin children, Maxwell and Willow Nettleman of Haslett; father, Bruce (Dora) Nettleman of Eaton Rapids; sister, Heather Nettleman of Eaton Rapids; brother, Erik (Tait) Medina of IL; nephews, Enzo Medina and Christopher Nettleman; great nephew, Aiden Easterling; special cousin, Lisa Hathaway; best friend, Tim Tarry; Joseph Lachniet, who was like a father to him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Fleeta Nettleman.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of your choice in loving memory of Derek Duncan Nettleman. me and my dad would sometimes sit down and i would just talk i would talk about football what´s on my mind all of that and he would just listen to me he was always there for me god has a plan for everyone but it seems cruel to take someone like him so soon he was a great father and was like a friend to me he would treat me like a son but sometimes he would just mess around with me we had this catch phase it was "sabita on the tibby tow shittt" my dad would say the first part i wouod say the secound i don´t know i just felt like he was me like we dressed bascially the same acted the same felt the same about certaint situations can´t beilve he´s gone still feels fake i love you dad always have always will and that will never change i´ll miss you dad ill see you again one day and i´ll tell you everything you weren´t able to see for yourself i love you dad hope you see this bye dad

my dad would take me and my sister out of school on Fridays so we could leave a bit early and we can go to the gas station or store before going to his house I loved doing that it was my favorite just seeing his face after a long week of school and knowing I can hang out with my dad again was the best feeling ever but I will never do that again ill never see his camo jean pants or his black coat or his funny pjs ill never see that again ill never be asked again "how was your guys week?" by my dad again ill never see the smile on his face when he walked into the school to get us it sucks knowing he's gone it still feels fake it feels like he's just sick and I'm gonna go see him soon but ill never feel his hug when he's about to leave after dropping us off again ill never see him again I miss you dad I love you always and forever I miss you how you read this one day by dad <3

I'll always remember his silly yet serious personality I loved it my dad was the smartest man I knew by far he would tell me he knows all because he has the crystal mind (a mind of all knowing) and his way he looked at the world never hated anyone loved all and would treat everyone and everything with care and respectfulness sucks he's up there now ill miss him I love my dad always and forever love you dad L.L.D nettlearchy will always be here for you dad <3

this is max nettleman his son i remeber the times when my friends would come over and he would just be the funniest guy ever and just the sweetest person ever all my friends loved him we all thought he was the best host and dad ever i love my dad always have always will i love you dad i miss yiu
