Derekia Annette Watkins was born February 13,1962 in Daytona Beach, FL to Michael McDonald and Penny Lee Richardson.

She was raised in Fort Pierce, FL and obtained her High School diploma from Fort Pierce Central High School. Derekia landed a career as a St Lucie County Public Schools Bus Driver, which she recently retired from due to her medical prognosis. She loved her family dearly and had a heart for serving. Derekia was a faithful member of Miracle Prayer Temple where she participated in The Generations praise dance group, and she enjoyed singing. She had a passion for cooking and learning new recipes.

Derekia was preceded in death by her parents, Michael McDonald, Penny Lee Richardson, and Bernice McDonald; brothers, Leon Richardson, and Alvin Richardson; sisters, Maxine Johnson, and Elaine McDonald.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Larcelius Watkins; daughters, Terickia McDonald, and Malanese Grant; son, Gregory McDonald; brothers, Gregory (Chantel) McDonald, Willie Ruth, Ervin McMullen, and Jerry McMullen; sisters, Beatrice Shaw, Malanese McDonald, and Machael (Cedric) Dawkins; grandchildren, Dahryl Grant III, and Madisyn Grant; godchildren, Kimberly (Michael) Bell, and Shelita (Larry) Lammers; great godchildren, Kamya Dixon, Michel Bell, Jayden Lammers, and Shaylen Lammers; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
