Deryl Wayne Gingery went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 11, 2024, at the age of 92. Deryl was born on a farm on Nelson Road west of Longmont, Colorado, the son of Percy and Mabel Gingery. The family moved to a farm northeast of Loveland in 1937. In 1941 the family moved to a home in southwest Fort Collins. Deryl attended Mount Hope School, Trilby School, and Fort Collins Junior High. In 1945 the family moved to Loveland and Deryl attended Loveland schools until graduating high school in 1950. He studied at Colorado A&M College (CSU) and graduated in 1955 with a degree in Civil Engineering with a second Lieutenant commission in the US Air Force. In July 1954 Deryl married Norma Cornwell. After graduation, Deryl served two years in the Air Force at Laon, France where Norma joined him. Kevin, their son was born in France in 1957. While in France Deryl served as the base maintenance engineer keeping all of the facilities operating. Norma and Deryl toured Europe while there.
Upon returning to the US in 1957, Deryl took a job in Consulting Civil Engineering and worked in that field in Denver for his career. Norma and Deryl's second child, Shari, was born in 1959. Deryl worked on many projects including: land development, highways, irrigation canals, and drainage. While living in Denver (1957 – 1997), the family attended Calvary Temple Church and Bear Creek Presbyterian Church. At Bear Creek Presbyterian Church, Deryl served as a Deacon and Usher. At retirement in 1997, Deryl and Norma moved to Loveland, Colorado to be near Norma's father and Kevin and Shari. Upon moving to Loveland, Norma and Deryl joined Faith Church where Deryl served as a Deacon and Usher.
Deryl's wife, Norma, had two strokes in the early 2000's which left her severely handicapped. Deryl cared for Norma until her passing in 2010. Deryl was thankful for Home Instead helping assist with Norma's care. Deryl and Norma lost their daughter Shari to complications of Epilepsy in 2008.
In 2011, Deryl met Marla Schiebout who was an avid hiker. They found a common interest in hiking and he enjoyed many hikes with Marla. They remained close friends until his death.
Deryl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Norma, his daughter Shari, his sister Faye Waitman and her husband Dean, and his sister Esther Ballow and her husband Bob. He is survived by his son Kevin and wife Kathy, grandson Jonathan and wife Leah with their children Mary, Ezra, Levi, and Anna, and grandson Christopher and wife Molly with their son Christopher Jr (CJ).
A celebration of Deryl's life will be held on Thursday May 29, 2025, at 11:00am at Faith Church (2707 N. Wilson Avenue) Loveland, Colorado. A private burial is being held before the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Faith Church.
