Dewey Born

Dewey Born, age 94, of Byron Center, Michigan, passed away into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 3, 2025. After immigrating from The Netherlands, Dewey honorably served in the U.S. Army. He also enjoyed driving his tractor, gardening, and growing his own strawberries and grapes. He also was a charter member of Second Byron CRC where he would play the organ for services. His loving wife of 63 years, Tena, two infant children, his parents, Sietse and Susanna Born, and a brother, Oene Oydes Born, preceded him to glory. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Steven Born, Alice (Henry) Damsteegt, Clarence Born, Howard (Cathy) Born, Robert (Tammy) Born; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Amy Van Dokkumburg, Harold (Lucille) Born, Louise Lindemulder, Steven (Shirley) Born, and Elisabeth (Roger) Bultman; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 6 to 8 PM at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE. Grand Rapids, 49508, as well as Friday, October 10, 2025, from 10 to 10:45 AM at Second Byron Center Christian Reformed Church, 7588 Byron Center Ave. Byron Center, 49315, with the funeral service beginning at 11 AM. Interment will be at Winchester Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dewey's honor may be made to Second Byron CRC.
