Dewey Wayne Isom Jr., "Little Wayne", 54, passed away Thursday evening, January 15, 2026. He passed away after a long battle with heart failure. He was born to the late Dewey and Beverly (Longnecker) Isom, on September 23, 1971 in Richmond, Indiana. He attended Lincoln High School in Cambridge City with the class of 1991, and later received his associated degree in Auto Mechanics in 2011. Dewey lived in several states growing up, but his fondest memories come from his years in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where he enjoyed his favorite fish. He found his way back home to Cambridge City to enjoy time with his family.
Dewey enjoyed NASCAR, football, basketball, demolition derby, mud bogs, tractor pulls, reading, watching movies, fishing, and he had a huge obsession with building Legos. His greatest joy was spending time with friends and family, especially his nieces, nephews and cousins whom he was uncle to. His brothers remember him as being fun, protective, encouraging and supportive. The best big brother.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Harry and Emma Longnecker; paternal grandparents, Dewey and Beulah Isom, R.W. and Mildred Wogoman; aunt, Ruth Bragg; uncles, George Longnecker and Bruce Isom; and his beloved fur companion, Jager.
He leaves behind his sisters, Chrissy (Harry) Snyder of Plainfield, Tami (Tadpole) Pugh of Dublin, Rebecca Batson, Joanna Morris, and Cheryl Cerny of Florida; brothers, Chris (Pam), and Anthony (Kelly) Isom of Florida, Frank Isom of North Carolina, and Anthony Cutietta of California; cousins raised as sisters, Patsy Struewing, Carlene Gilpin, Jeanene (Steve) Hensley, Sheryl Sheehy, Dana "Momma" Whicker (Dave) and Monica Bailey; special nephews, James Pugh and Max Snyder; special nieces, Kylie Jo (Casey) Jennings, Jordan Lee, Emmie (Robby Keegan) Pugh, along with many other nieces, nephews, and cousins he was Uncle to. Uncle Harry (Kat) Longnecker, Ray (Patty) Isom, Walt Isom; aunts Loretta (Dan) Wicker, Brenda (Frank) Massman, Remona Thomas and Shirley Longnecker. A best friend, Zach Lewman and a slew of other family and friends.
At Dewey's request a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the American Legion Post #169 in Cambridge City from 4 to 6 p.m. with a small service following. Please join us to share memories, food, peace and love. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a Pit Bull Rescue of your choice.
