Dewey William "Bill" McClain, 91, of Lone Star, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025. A proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted family man, Bill lived a life rooted in service, strength, and unwavering dedication to both his family and his community. Born in 1934, Bill proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. A man of deep faith, he was a lifelong member of the Daingerfield Church of Christ, where he worshipped and served faithfully. Following his military service, he embarked on a 40-year career at Lone Star Steel, where he worked tirelessly to provide for his beloved wife and children. His strong sense of justice and fairness led him to also serve as Justice of the Peace for Morris County for 24 years, a role he carried out with great honor and integrity. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Diane McClain, who passed away in 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was also preceded in death by all four of his sisters-Loraine Nesmith, Irene McConnell, Aletha Lambert, and Polly Scott-as well as his grandson, David Hawkins. Bill is survived by his children: Kim Hawkins of Daingerfield; Micheal McClain and wife Tina of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; and Brad McClain and wife Brianna of Lone Star. He leaves behind 12 grandchildren: Jonathan Hawkins and wife Amber, Santos Barrera and wife Mary, Amanda and husband Eric, Alissa and husband Caleb, Ryan and wife Jaihde, Andrew McClain, Lainey McClain, Tristan McClain and wife Taylor, Charley McClain, Carley Brian, Tatum Brian, and Addison Kelley. He is also survived by a host of cherished great-grandchildren: Fiona, Emily, Baylor, Hadley, Penelope, Eleanor, Charlotte, Quentin, Maude, Beau, Hezekiah, Nezryn, Maisyn, Eli, Maddox, Peyton, Scotty, and Billy. In his free time, Bill loved to hunt, camp, fish, and spend time with his grandkids and those precious great-grandbabies. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by family, sharing stories, and creating memories outdoors. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Capstone Healthcare of Daingerfield and Chambers Hospice for their excellent care, kindness, and compassion during his final days. Bill leaves behind a lasting legacy of resilience, compassion, and dedication-one that will live on through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 2 PM, Friday, August 1, 2025 at the Daingerfield Church of Christ with Tim Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow in Clark Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 PM prior to the service at the church. Services have been entrusted to Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield.
