Diana Sue (Levy) Shaffer, loving wife and mother, passed peacefully on November 12, 2022, at the age of 74. She was born in Calexico, California, to Alvada ("Kelley") Norton and Loyied ("Cotton") Levy. Diana spent her early years helping to care for her four younger siblings. Known to them as "Sissy," she was a loving big sister and confidant to them throughout her life, visiting and talking with them often.
As a teenager working as a waitress at Bob's Big Boy, she met the love of her life, Danny Ray Shaffer. They married in 1967 and spent their first years together in Sylmar, California, where they started their family. Their next home was in Arvada, Colorado, where they raised their family before eventually returning to California, settling in Fair Oaks.
Diana was first and foremost a devoted mother and wife. She and Danny raised four boys in a lively home filled with laughter and more than a few antics. Diana was a second "mom" to many of the boys' childhood friends; their home was always open to those who wanted to stay for dinner or spend the night.
Diana was also a very successful businesswoman. She first received her real estate license in 1974 in Colorado. She worked as a senior loan officer for several years and she was a real estate appraiser. She was first licensed to sell real estate in California in 1990 and together, she and Danny were a dynamic real estate sales team. Eventually they joined RE/MAX Gold where they received many awards throughout their career. In 2004 they were recognized by the RE/MAX Gold national office for their outstanding community service and for being one of the top 10 RE/MAX Gold teams in the country. Diana touched the lives of many friends, clients, and business associates with her expertise, kindness, and humor.
Diana is predeceased by her father Cotton Levy and her son Keith Shaffer. Along with her husband of 55 years, Diana is survived by her mother Kelley (Norton) Leest; siblings Anita Levy (m. Jim Stevens), Nancy Levy Baker, Janet Levy, and Randy Levy (m. Rosalyn Levy); sons Daniel Shaffer, Eric Shaffer, and Brett Shaffer; daughters-in-law Carole Shaffer, Jennifer Shaffer, and Jill Terrell; eight grandchildren: Taylor Shaffer, Cassidy Womack (m. Adam Womack), Halee Lancaster (m. Tucker Lancaster), Zachary Shaffer, Mason Shaffer, Brayden Shaffer, Cienna Shaffer, and Caysin Shaffer; four great-grandchildren: Nash Heagney, Aaliyah Howe, Francesca Womack, and Ben Womack; several cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
Services for Diana will be held at Old St. Mary's Chapel at 5251 Front Street in Rocklin, California on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 2:00PM.
