Diane Conroy

Diane Conroy (née McLaughlin), a woman defined by her kindness, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

Born on June 11, 1943, in Jamaica, Queens, to the late Stasia and Bernard McLaughlin, Diane was raised in Richmond Hill, Queens, alongside her brothers, Jim and Bruce. After graduating from Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School, she followed her calling into healthcare, earning her nursing degree from the Queens Hospital Center School of Nursing. It was during these formative years that she met and fell in love with the late Bernard (Barney) Conroy.

Diane and Barney married in 1965, beginning their life together in Woodhaven, Queens, before eventually settling in River Edge, New Jersey. For nearly sixty years, Diane was a dedicated resident of River Edge and a faithful parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle. She balanced her commitment to her community with a distinguished 30-plus year career as a nurse at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, where her compassion touched countless lives before her retirement.

Above all, Diane embraced the joy of connection. Whether she was maintaining her 70-year tradition of vacationing at Yanders in Pennsylvania, traveling to new places, or enjoying a meal and a movie with friends, she cherished every moment. She was a constant, warm presence at nursing reunions, neighborhood gatherings, and church celebrations, always ready for a long conversation with a lifelong friend.

Her greatest pride, however, was her family. She is survived by her children: Bern (Gail), Tim (Denise), Maureen, and Colleen, and her three beloved granddaughters, Emma, Olivia, and Samantha, who were the lights of her life.

Diane was famously known for never missing an occasion to send a card. In honor of her thoughtful legacy, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, you send a card to someone in your life to share a positive wish or a simple hello-continuing the gentle tradition of kindness she maintained throughout her life.

Visitation: Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Volk Leber Funeral Home at 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, NJ

Funeral Mass: Thursday, February 19, 2026, 10:00am at St. Peter the Apostle, 445 Fifth Avenue, River Edge, NJ

Interment immediately following the funeral mass: at George Washington Memorial Park Mausoleum, 234 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ
