Diane Elaine Hill, age 70, of Grinnell, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
A private family interment will be held, with a celebration of Diane's life to be announced at a later date. Condolences may be shared with the family on the Smith Funeral Home and Crematory website at www.smithfh.com.
Born on March 7, 1955, in Grinnell, Diane was the cherished daughter of Beverley and Willena (Jochims) Burch. She was raised and educated in Grinnell and remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life.
On July 28, 1973, Diane was united in marriage to Timothy Collum, Sr. Together they were blessed with three children: a son, Timothy Jr., and two daughters, Corey and Jamie. This union later ended in divorce.
Diane worked as a janitor for several area businesses. She found joy in gardening, crocheting, and quilting. Her deep love for all animals, especially horses and dogs, was a defining part of her spirit.
She is survived by her children: Timothy Collum, Jr. of Grinnell; Corey (Rod) Innis of Grinnell; and Jamie (Charles Williams) Collum of Grinnell; ten grandchildren: Katie (Dylan) Savage, Maddie, Ethan, Evelyn and Lydia Collum, Zach (Michelle), Skylar, and Mackenzie Innis, Karsen (Scott) Burnell, and Valen Collum; one great-grandchild, Michael Savage; and her brothers, John Burch of Montezuma and Kevin Burch of Grinnell.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Linda Norman; and her brothers, Larry, David, Ed, Jeff, and Dan Burch.
Her memory will be cherished always, and her love will continue to shine through those she held dear.
