Diane Kurth Obituary

Born January 30, 1950, in Peoria, Illinois to the late Edward L. and Mabel L. (Evans) Modglin, she married Mark Alfred Kurth on September 27, 1975 in Peoria, Illinois.
Surviving are her husband, Mark, of 49 years; their children, Matthew (Emily) Kurth of Peoria and Nicole (Ryan) Duncheon of East Peoria; and her grandchildren, RJ and Addison Duncheon and Aubrey, Elyse, and Evan Kurth.
Diane graduated from Manual High School in the class of '68 and went on to earn her education degree from Illinois State University. For 25 years, she taught at Trewyn, Harrison, and lastly Limestone Walters before retiring in 2010. She was a well loved and engaging teacher who loved teaching earth science and physical education to her middle school students.
Cruising to car shows with family was her favorite pastime, as well as following her children in softball and golf. Mark and Diane enjoyed many car shows, from local shows to Cruisin' the Coast more recently. Watching the St. Louis Cardinals play, going to Lou's Drive-In, and family vacations to NHRA events were amongst her other favorites. She was able to enjoy traveling to both Siesta Key, Florida for the winters in retirement with Mark as well as many road trips to national parks. She was always there to support her children and grandchildren in their endeavors and was the perfect partner for Mark. Diane's love and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Monday, August 4, 2025 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, Illinois. Visitation will be from 9:30am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital honoring Diane's love of children.
