Diane K. Recknor passed away June 5, 2022, in Iowa City following a courageous year-long battle with a congenital heart condition. She was 71 years old.
Diane was born January 13, 1951, in York, Nebraska, the daughter of Lawrence and Esther (Dageforde) Domeier. She grew up in York with her parents and sister, Patricia.
Diane then moved to Lincoln, where she graduated from the University of Nebraska and met her future husband, Kevin. She and Kevin married in 1977 and had two daughters, Emily and Rachel.
In 1982, she and her family moved to Iowa. She spent her career at the University of Iowa Hospital as a Neurology Clinic Coordinator, where she met many lifelong friends.
Diane was a generous soul. She was known for being a good listener and someone who gave sound advice. She was caring, compassionate, honest, and was loved by everyone who knew her. Diane cherished the time that she got to spend with her five grandsons. She loved to travel to Europe, Mexico, and especially to Hawaii, where she and Kevin visited six times! She had a great sense of humor and put up with a lot of silliness from her family.
Her memory and legacy will continue on through all who love her.
Diane's family includes her beloved husband of 45 years, Kevin; daughters, Emily (Dan) Edmonds and Rachel Cardoso; grandchildren, Damian, Adrian, Dylan, Ethan and Wyatt; sister, Patricia Staszak; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dog (Lola) and cats (Red and Levi).
A simple cremation has been arranged for Diane in accordance with her wishes. Her ashes will be buried in Iowa City at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to express sympathy may consider making a donation to Diane's favorite organization, Iowa Farm Sanctuary (www.iowafarmsanctuary.org).
Please continue to keep her family in your thoughts during this difficult time.
