Lapeer, MI

Diane Elizabeth Ritter, age 83, of Lapeer, MI, passed away on September 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving children.

Born on January 27, 1942, in Pontiac, Michigan, Diane devoted her life to her family, faith, and community. She loved to sew, quilt, and do puzzles. Her active involvement in the Methodist Church was a cornerstone of her faith journey. She raised her family at Baldwin Avenue United Methodist Church, later moving to Seymour Lake UMC, and ultimately finding her home at Lapeer Trinity Methodist Church. Diane contributed to all aspects of church life, from children's programs and staff ministry to the United Methodist Women and organizing funeral dinners.

Her kindness and unwavering dedication to helping others touched countless lives, leaving a lasting impact on her community.

Diane is survived by her daughters, Melanie Sugierski and Penny Tubbs (Eric); her son, Steven Ritter Jr.; her grandchildren, Christopher Ritter, Joshua Ritter, Nick McPhee, Sadie Lunt (Samuel), Hannah Particka (Andrew), and Ethan Tubbs (Amber); and her great-grandchildren, Avery Ritter, Reed and Tobin Lunt, and Dalyla McPhee.

Diane is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will remember her hospitality and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steven Ritter Sr; her son, Rodney Ritter; son-in-law, Walter Sugierski; her mother, Frances Wilmot; her mother-in-law, Edna Berneice Ritter; and father-in-law, Ray Ritter.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Methodist Church (1310 N Main Street, Lapeer, Michigan 48446) on Friday, October 24th. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM, and a luncheon at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Jansen Family Funeral Home – Columbiaville.
