Diane M. Szabo April 12, 1940 – August 23, 2025 Milford, PA
Diane Margaret (Krotz) Szabo passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, at the age of 85, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 12, 1940, in Queens, NY, to the late Frank and Margaret (MacDowell) Krotz, Diane lived a life filled with kindness, service, and unwavering love.
Throughout her life, Diane wore many hats – from her role as an Executive Secretary at Onassis Shipping Company in New York City to her heartfelt dedication volunteering with the Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corps, making a difference in countless lives. She gave her time and talent to the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District PTA, where her sons attended school, and as a Cub Scout Den Mother, fostering a sense of community and adventure in young hearts. Diane's love for Jesus resonated deeply within her, and she shared it with others in her role as a Catechist at St. Anastasia Church in Harriman, NY. Yet, above all titles and accolades, Diane found her greatest joy and purpose in her roles as Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. The love she had for her family knew no bounds, and she devoted her life to nurturing and inspiring them.
Diane leaves behind her loving husband, Jozsef Szabo of Milford, PA; her devoted sons, Jozsef F. Szabo, his partner Lisa Wheddon of Montgomery, NY; James F. Szabo and his wife, Rebecca, both of Montgomery, NY; and Jeffrey F. Szabo and his wife, Vinetta, of Savannah, GA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Zachary, Cailynn, Fletcher, Jeffrey-Connor, Kiley, Lillith, Camryn and her sister, Frances "Buttons" Jurgelon of Schenectady, NY. Diane was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Debra A. Szabo, who she loved dearly.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Diane during visitation at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc., Funeral Homes, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe, NY, on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at St. Paul's Church, 2800 NY-17K, Bullville, NY. Following the mass, Diane will be laid to rest at Brick Church Cemetery in Montgomery, NY.
In honoring Diane's generous spirit, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 100 Ramapo St, Monroe, NY, allowing her memory to live on through acts of compassion.
Diane's spirit will forever dwell in the hearts of those she touched-a radiant embodiment of love, faith, and family - just as she often reminded us, "Remember the Sky," a heartfelt expression of her enduring presence even after being called home to the Lord.
