Diane Cannon Wakins, age 65, of Tuscaloosa, passed away on October 12, 2025, at Park Manor Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Yellow Creek Cemetery.
Diane was born November 21, 1959, she married the late James E. "Moe" Watkins, Sr. and together they started their family. Diane was the matriarch of her family always teaching her children to love others, No Matter What! She had a forgiving heart and a loving spirit. Diane worked from home being the best wife, mother and grandmother anyone could imagine, she loved cooking and any other task that helped her family to run smoothly. Being "Granny" to her grandchildren was something that brought her immense joy.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents J.C. Cannon and Irene Lunsford Herron as well as her husband, of 49 years, James E. "Moe" Watkins, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter Brittany Diane Watkins Miller, son James E. "Bubba" Watkins, Jr., grandchildren Dalton M. Miller, Alexis Diane Miller, Alana Elizabeth Miller, James E. Watkins, III, and Braxtyn Dezell Watkins; sisters Jackie Wilkins (Billy) and Janet Brock (Gary), brother Danny Cannon (Mary) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Dalton Miller, Billy Wilkins, Jr., Michael Willis and Dustin Watkins.
