Diann Ruth Davidsmeyer
Columbus, IN - Diann Ruth Davidsmeyer, 72, of Columbus, Indiana, died Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Belmont Health and Rehabilitation in Columbus. She was born September 9, 1951, in Jacksonville, Illinois, the daughter of John Wm. "Bill" Davidsmeyer and Correne D. Kraemer Davidsmeyer. Diann is survived by her sister, Darcy (Ray Morin) Davidsmeyer of Naples, Florida; two nephews, Ryan (Barbara) Davidsmeyer and Michael (Kelsey) Davidsmeyer, both of Jacksonville, Illinois; and two great-nephews Colton Barr and Emrick Davidsmeyer, and, two great-nieces Teddy and Margaret Davidsmeyer, all of Jacksonville, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard William Davidsmeyer and John Paul Davidsmeyer.
Diann attended Salem Lutheran Elementary School, Jacksonville High School and Concordia Teachers College, now Concordia University, in Seward, Nebraska.
Diann spent most of her career as a teacher at St. Peter's Lutheran School in Columbus, Indiana, teaching second grade, third grade, sixth grade, science classes and various other positions.
Diann enjoyed her teaching vocation and mentoring her students to grow academically and socially, starting as a counselor during college summer breaks at Camp CILCA (Central Illinois Camp Association). Her hobbies included gardening, searching for and collecting antiques, playing cards and staying in touch with friends and relatives with cards and gifts.
The family will meet friends for a Celebration of Life at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Columbus, Indiana on Friday, May 24th at 11:30 am, with Rev. Tim Carter officiating. Burial will be at Diamond Grove Cemetery, in Jacksonville, IL to be announced at a later date. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter's Lutheran School, Columbus, Indiana.
