Barbara “Dianne” Fields, 69, of Ellijay, Georgia, transitioned from her temporary earthly home to her forever home in Heaven on February 18, 2025, surrounded by family, following a valiant and courageous battle with ALS. As she took her last breath on earth, she took her first breath in Heaven, and her faith became her sight.
Born on August 3, 1955, Dianne grew up in the Mableton area of Cobb County, Georgia, graduated from South Cobb High School, and worked for Simco Technologies Inc. for 30 years as an Accounting Clerk.
Dianne will be remembered as a wonderful mother, wife, sister, and woman of God whose love and kindness touched many lives. We are deeply grateful for the time we had with her on this side of Heaven, and will carry her with us in our hearts and minds forever.
The Bible reminds us that “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” Dianne loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is in His presence now. She has also been reunited with her mother, Barbara Jean Mauldin, whom she loved dearly; father, Charles Jackson (“Jack”) Mauldin Sr.; grandparents; and a host of family and friends.
Grieving with hope on this side of Heaven and left to cherish her memory are her husband Keith Fields of Ellijay; daughters Ashley Mitcham of Acworth and Lori (Nathan) Wilson of Acworth; sister Dolores (Tim) Morris of Mableton; sister Deborah (Gary) Goad of Acworth; brother Chuck Mauldin of Dallas; half-sister Susan Mauldin of Adairsville; stepdaughter Jennifer Johnson (Andrew) of Marietta; stepson Matt Fields of Ellijay, and stepson Chris (Taylor) Fields of Carrollton; 10 grandchildren whom she absolutely adored; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dianne and Keith enjoyed their many travels together over the years, especially to their special Smoky Mountains (Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge) and Panama City Beach, Florida. They also enjoyed spending quality time with their children, grandchildren, and family. In 2023, they relocated from Mableton, Georgia to Ellijay, Georgia to enjoy retirement together in the North Georgia Mountains.
Family will gather at 11:00AM, with visitation from 12:00PM-2:00PM on Monday, February 24, 2025 at West Cobb Funeral Home, 2480 Macland Road, Marietta, Georgia, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00PM in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home with Pastor A.J. Garcia officiating. Dianne’s earthly body will be laid to rest at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs, Georgia.
The family kindly requests houseplants that can continue to grow and create a special, lasting memory of Dianne. Flowers are also welcome. Any memorial contributions may be made to ALS United of Georgia via alsgeorgia.org
