Dianne Perry Futrell

MURFREESBORO, NC - Dianne Perry Futrell, age 80, passed away peacefully at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina, on October 9, 2025. She was born on January 13, 1945, in Windsor, North Carolina, to loving parents Edgar Rascoe Perry and Manzella Whitley Perry.
A gentle and sweet soul, Dianne was deeply cherished by all who knew her. After graduating from Ahoskie High School, she shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life, Robert Futrell, Sr. Together, they built a life filled with love and companionship, rarely seen apart. Dianne's devotion to her family shone brightly in every aspect of her life.
Dianne pursued her passion for stamp collecting with zeal and took great enjoyment in sun tanning and spending time in the mountains. Her love for animals extended to both cats and dogs, whom she adored so long as they stayed outside. For 33 years, she dedicated herself as the postmaster in Murfreesboro, forming numerous enduring friendships along the way.
A devout member of Meherrin Baptist Church, Dianne embraced her faith throughout her life. Her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on those fortunate to cross her path. Dianne Perry Futrell will be dearly missed, yet her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Dianne is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Edgar and Manzella Perry; granddaughter Jessica Futrell; and siblings Charlie Perry and wife Virginia, Lula Lowers and husband Talmadge "Red", Jenny Burden and husband Arthur, Annie Phelps and husband Harvey, William Perry, Ruth Lassiter and husband Raymond, and Thomas Carroll Perry.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Futrell, Sr.; her cherished son, Rob Futrell and his wife Denise; beloved granddaughter, Dianna Warren; precious great-granddaughter, Josie Jo Warren; dear brother, Henry Perry and wife Helen of Bedford, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Family and friends will gather to honor Dianne's life on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Meherrin Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary, officiated by Rev. John Porter. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
