Dianne LaPierre Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Samaritan Affordable Funeral and Cremation Services - Terre Haute on Jan. 28, 2026.
Our beloved mother, Dianne LaPierre, passed away peacefully on January 18th, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on July 10th, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio to Donald and Shirley (Carlson) LaPierre.

Dianne graduated from Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood, IN in 1972. She then later married the only true love of her life, Mark Smith, on February 11th, 1977, and they had three children, Luke, Erica, and Amber Smith.

Known as a master of all trades, Dianne could truly do anything she set her mind to. She was certified in heating and cooling and was a maintenance technician for property management ranging from Bloomington to Indianapolis. She also earned an associate's degree in business administration while working for Middle Way Food Works. Dianne loved to make crafts especially Native American and macrame items. She attended many Native American sundances. She was very independent and was the strongest woman we know.

She is survived by her two daughters, Erica (Fredie) Elliott and Amber (Chris) Hanners; seven grandchildren, Bailey Smith, Riliegh Smith, Skyler Banks, Braydon Elliott, Jaidlyn Elliott, Christopher Hanners JR, and Carabelle Hanners; and two great grandchildren, Wrenlee Elliott and River Baker with a third on the way; brothers, Tom LaPierre and Doug Lapierre; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, our father Mark, brother Donald LaPierre Jr, sisters Carol Ramseyer and Janet Hacker, and a great-granddaughter Avery Decker.

Cremation has been entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home. Dianne's daughters will be having a celebration of life at a later date. Online condolences can be made at www.samaritanfunerals.com.
