Richard E. “Dickie” Minick, 54, of Veedersburg, IN, passed away 7:00 AM Monday February 26, 2024 in the ER at IU Methodist Hospital.
Dickie was born March 20, 1969 in Danville, IL the son of Richard E. “Dick” and Sherry (Powers) Minick. They have preceded him in death.
Surviving family include a son, Eli F. Minick, Huntington, IN; two daughters, Gabbriella R. (Corbin) Bolding, Huntington, IN; Zoey L. Minick, Paxton, IL; a brother, Travis (Sherry) Covault, Veedersburg, IN; two sisters, Rebecca (Christopher) Obmann, Winchester, CA; Priscilla (Jason) Hetrick, Veedersburg, IN; significant other, Lorie Griffin, Crawfordsville, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
Dickie graduated from Fountain Central High School in 1987. He had been employed for many years as a union bricklayer; most recently for FA Wilhelm out of Local #4 IN/KY.
Dickie will be remembered for his contagious smile, he was a very friendly person who never met a stranger. He was always willing to help anyone with anything; no matter the time or place. He enjoyed being outdoors as much as possible; working in his garden, and enjoyed riding his Harley around the area. He also enjoyed cooking outdoors on his charcoal grill in his shorts and sandals year round, no matter how cold the weather might be.
He was artistic with an impressive ability to draw things on paper. He had an incredible ability and desire to build things, everything from toys for his kids, chairs, and patios; he would often rather build something than buy it at the store. He had a vast knowledge of many things, great and small. He loved to know what was going on in the world; watching numerous documentaries, and was insistent on staying up to date on the news and weather information.
Visitation will be 3:00 to 7:00 PM Friday March 1, 2024 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg IN. There will be time given at 7:00 PM to share stories and memories of Dickie.
