Dillon Keith McCord of Hallettsville/Ezzell, Texas, was a beacon of joy and faith in the lives of all who knew him. Born on July 8, 1991, in the warm-hearted town of Yoakum, Texas, Dillon's journey through life was one of passion, service, and unwavering love. On June 5, 2025, at the Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center of Compassion Facility in Victoria, Texas, Dillon's spirited and purpose-driven voyage came to a peaceful close due to complications from Glioblastoma. Yet, the legacy he leaves behind is a testament to a life lived with intention and grace.
The cherished son of Dwight McCord and Patricia Jane Wells McCord, and the loyal brother to Trevor McCord, Dillon's familial bonds were unbreakable. Whether it was camping at Long Branch on brother's day with Trevor or reveling in the joy of family gatherings and reunions, Dillon's heart was fullest when surrounded by his kin.
A fervent believer in the power of education, Dillon's academic pursuits were marked by determination and excellence. He honed his culinary skills at T.S.T.C. in Waco, TX, from 2010-2011, and later, his calling in faith led him to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Ministry & Biblical Languages in 2017, followed by a Master of Arts in Youth Ministry in 2018. His dedication to scholarship was further highlighted by his membership in the Sigma Theta Phi fraternity, where brotherhood and academic rigor went hand in hand.
Dillon's professional life was as diverse as it was impactful. He demonstrated his commitment to the Word of God by placing excellently in the high school youth Bible Drill from 2009 to 2010. His culinary journey saw him bring joy to many as he worked at Benvenuto Italian Grill in Hallettsville, TX, and shared laughter at Splashway Family Waterpark in Sheridan, TX.
In a profound step of faith, Dillon received his Minister's License on December 11, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Brownwood, Texas, and served with heart and soul at Austin Street Baptist Church in Yoakum, TX during the summer of 2018. His versatility shone through as he embraced the role of a pizza delivery driver for Pizza Hut, delivering not just meals but smiles from 2018 to 2021.
Dillon's interests were a mirror of his vibrant spirit. A devoted servant at First Baptist Church Hallettsville, he touched many lives through his involvement in children and youth ministries. His presence as a greeter was a Sunday blessing, his smile a source of warmth and welcome. His love for the Lord was palpable, as he delved into the scriptures with fellow Christians at Bible Study Fellowship, exploring the depths of faith with eagerness and insight.
Entertainment and joy were never far from Dillon's daily life. He found pleasure in the simple things-playing along with The Price is Right, experimenting with recipes from food network TV shows, and immersing himself in video games and movies with his brother and cousins. His love for the outdoors was evident in his camping adventures, and his anticipation for family reunions was a reminder of the enduring bonds of love and kinship.
In Dillon's life, we find the blueprint for a life well-lived-one of devotion, laughter, learning, and love. His memory serves as an eternal flame, guiding us towards living our lives with purpose, kindness, and a generous spirit. Dillon Keith McCord's story is not one of sadness but a celebration of a soul that truly understood the essence of life and left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
