Dixie Gale Wyatt Blurton, 86, of Jackson, Tennessee, passed peacefully from home into the arms of her Savior on July 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was raised in Bemis, TN, daughter of the late James M. “Jim” Wyatt and Delores Butler Wyatt. Dixie graduated from Southside High School in the class of 1957. She was a long-standing member of Beta Sigma Phi, where she served as President of the Mu Chapter, was honored as Woman of the Year in 1990, and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. A lifelong follower of Jesus, she was a faithful member of Englewood Baptist Church and served joyfully in many roles over the years.

Dixie was the cherished wife of William G. “Bill” Blurton, her devoted husband of 66 years. Theirs was a love deeply rooted in faith, trust, and unwavering commitment. She was adored, protected, and celebrated in her marriage, and she poured her heart into creating a home full of peace, laughter, and belonging.

She is preceded in death by her beloved son, David A. Blurton and her brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Wyatt. She is survived by her husband, Bill Blurton; son, Kevin (Niki) Blurton; grandchildren, Jeremy (Crystal) Blurton, Kevin (Kim) Blurton II, Jamie Blurton, Tiffany (Jon) Gooch, Brandon Blurton; and ten great-grandchildren, Madison, Rickey, Chloe, Tripp, Libbi, Abbi, Maverick, Heidi, Kreeden, and Krimson.

More than anything, Dixie treasured her role as “Mawmaw.” She loved nothing more than having her family close, and she carried the honor of being a grandmother with warmth, humor, and deep devotion. Her joy was fullest when surrounded by those she loved, whether setting the table for a meal, watching children play, or simply sitting nearby with a gentle smile. Being loved by her family was one of her greatest joys, loving them in return was her life’s quiet masterpiece.

Dixie spent many years traveling and camping with her husband and family. She found peace in quiet morning devotionals, comfort in a well-worn paperback, and delight in watching hummingbirds flit and hover as the breeze touched her patio.

Dixie’s legacy will live on through her family and close friends. Her steadfast faith, tender strength, and joyful spirit shaped generations, and her influence will echo through stories told at the table, quiet moments of kindness, and the lives of those who were lucky enough to be loved by her. She nurtured friendships that spanned decades, offering loyalty, laughter, and grace in abundance. She leaves behind not just memories, but a way of being; one marked by compassion, humility, and an unshakable trust in God.

A funeral service to honor her life will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Bro. Garry Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Gideons International for the placement of Bibles in Dixie’s memory at gideons.org/donate.
