Ruth “Dolly” Ramthun (Edwards), 90, of the town of Auburn, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.
She was born on February 11, 1935, in Kewaskum, the daughter of the late Dr. Richard G. and Alma Edwards (Zimpel), and on December 12, 1953, she was united in marriage to Eldon “Ellie” Ramthun at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum.
Dolly was an avid fan of the Duke Blue Devils College Basketball Team (future champions 2025?), she also followed the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks. Dolly was a lifelong member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum where she sang in the church choir for several years.
She loved to cook, garden, play golf, work on puzzles, play cards (cribbage, sheepshead, bridge), read, and most of all spend time with family and friends. Dolly had a lot of friends, far too many to list here! Ellie and Dolly farmed for 40 years and cared for beef, chickens, and pigs with great joy. Dolly was a steward of the earth. She had a passion for farming and all the chores that come with farming. She was a creative problem solver for family and friends. She was a “favorite” aunt and taught and mentored many with her ability to show great compassion and unconditional love. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by her family and by all who knew her.
Those Dolly leaves behind to cherish her memory include three sons, Jonathan (Karen) Ramthun, Timothy (Carolann) Ramthun, and David (Lisa) Ramthun all of Kewaskum; nine grandchildren, Laura (Travis) Luedtke, Tiffany (Doug) Franzen, Sarah (Jamie) Severance, Justin (April) Ramthun, Douglas Ramthun, Becka Ramthun, Joshua Ramthun, and Matthew Ramthun; 17 great-grandchildren; her sister, Gwendolyn Dreher, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, Ellie; and many brothers, sisters, and in-laws.
