Larry F. Ramthun, 70, of Watkins, passed away peacefully with family by his side on September 28, 2024 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. A celebration of his life will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Saturday October 5, 2024 at Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins, MN.
Larry was born September 20,1954 in Litchfield MN to John and Cecilia (Crusoe) Ramthun.
Larry had a love for the outdoors, working on lawnmowers, collective tractors and snowmobiles, and growing up on the family farm south of Watkins. Larry also enjoyed spending time with family and neighbors and hanging out in his shed and keeping a well manicured lawn and garden at his home in Watkins.
After high school, Larry worked at Animal Fair and did road construction for a short time with his father in law Tom before getting a long career at Electrolux in St. Cloud,Mn and retiring in November of 2019.
Larry Married Tammy McCarney on October 25, 1975. They were blessed with two children, Scott and Holly Ramthun
After retirement, Larry fell in love with 2 very special kittens. Echo and Gigi. They became a big part of his life. He showed a deep attachment to his cats. His cats were the recipients of considerable attention and affection, as seen in his frequent walks, grooming sessions, and quality time spent with them.
Larry was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, brother in law, and great uncle.
Larry is survived by his wife of 49 years Tammy; son Scott; daughter Holly (Jon) Ramthun; brothers Richard Ramthun, Kenny (Judy) Ramthun; sister Diann Thompson; sisters-in-law Sandy (Ben) Stoltman, Jana Loesch and Donna Heairet; as well as several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and so many loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cecilia Ramthun; father and mother-in-law Sallee and Thomas McCarney; nephew Jarrit Ramthun; niece Amanda Ramthun; brothers-in-law Bobby Loesch and Donald Heairet; and great niece Haizlee Grothe.
The family would like to extend a big thank you to the Quiet Oaks staff for their outstanding care for Larry.
