Dolly Simeroth was brought into the world on Valentine's Day, 1943, to George and Hazel Anspach in Wichita Falls, TX. She lived her life traveling the world with her parents and husband, enjoying being an Air Force child and proud military wife.
In 1966 she graduated from McMurray college which launched her lifelong career as an educator. She taught K-5 in Montgomery, Alabama, San Antonio, TX, and the Netherlands before settling into AISD in Austin TX. She dedicated her life to the education of young children at Sanchez and Williams Elementary. Dolly touched the lives of many children throughout her career. Once Dolly retired, she turned her focus to giving back, volunteering at Seton Southwest as well as being an active member of the Association of Texas Professional Educators and her educator sorority ADK.
Dolly and Clyde met square dancing at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, TX. The next Sunday, Dolly sold Clyde a box of Christmas Cards at the church fundraiser and their love story began there. Dolly knew from the moment she met Clyde that he was going to be her husband. Dolly and Clyde dated until July 10, 1965, when they were united in matrimony in Abilene, Texas. In 1966 their love grew when they welcomed their first son, Timothy James, in Abilene TX. In 1968 a second son, George (Greg) Andrew, was born in Fort Belvoir, VA. Dolly and Clyde raised their two boys in Austin, TX where they lived in Oak Hill on Scenic Brook Drive for 41 wonderful years. Their lives were enriched by the friends they made who they considered family.
Dolly was a devoted Catholic, and she was a founding member of St Catherine of Sienna. She was a Eucharistic Minister and sponsored many through confirmation and RCIA. Dolly and Clyde were in regular attendance at the Saturday vigil Mass as well as the holy days of obligation. She very much enjoyed participating in the Lenten season. Dolly received her ashes this year and was looking forward to commemorating the resurrection of Jesus.
Dolly and Clyde enjoyed years of holiday celebrations in Belton, TX with Tim, and Emily, along with family and friends. In the summer of 2022, Dolly and Clyde relocated to Leawood, KS, to be closer to family. George (Greg) and Kristin, along with family and friends, welcomed them with open arms and cherished the time they had together.
Not only did Dolly enjoy time with family and friends, but she also had a love of television, movies, and theatre. She even dabbled in the theater while in the Netherlands for a musical stage performance in Oklahoma. Dolly will always be remembered for her annual Christmas letter and sense of humor.
