Funeral services for Dollye Jane Yeargan, 95, of Gainesville, are set for 11:00 AM Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A private burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 AM, the hour prior to the funeral.
Mrs. Yeargan passed away on July 1, 2023 in Gainesville. She was born on May 18, 1928 in Dallas to J. B. and Velma Ramsey.
Dollye was baptized at Cliff Temple Baptist Church in Dallas. She graduated from Sunset High School and married Gordon S. Yeargan, Jr. on June 10, 1950. They lived in College Station in 1950-51. She taught 4th grade and was a Campfire Girls leader. She also was a member of First Baptist Church in Gainesville where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Mrs. Yeargan had many educational achievements which include, a BA in music from TSCW (now TWU), an MA in educational psychology at NTSU, a PhD in college teaching, majoring in psychology at NTSU. She was a licensed Specialist in School Psychology in the State of Texas and a member of the National Association of School Psychologists. She loved children and used her abilities to help many before she retired at 83 years of age. Even above all these accomplishments was the unconditional love that she provided to her family in a home where Jesus Christ is Lord.
Dollye is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Tricia and David Scott; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Sherry Yeargan; daughter Laura and her late husband Jay Roberts; son and daughter-in-law John and Maria Yeargan; nieces Martha Latimer, Margaret Williams; nephew Roger Charlebois; cousins Mary Cope and JoAnne Hawkes; grandchildren Matt and Melissa McHugh, Michael and Summer Love, Roger and Stacy Dickerson, Christy and Joel Flanagan, Rebecca Jane Roberts, Eric and Martha Erlandson, Steve and Jessica Yeargan, Nikki Yeargan and Austin Anders, Matias and Britni Garcia, Rafael Garcia; great-grandchildren Joy, Tucker, John-Aaron, Makayla, Skylar, Dawson, Reid, Damon, Weston, Gianna, Joscelyn, Nereyda, Jordan, Kaleigh, Sofie, and Christian. She is also survived by many other family members.
Mrs. Yeargan was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother James Ramsey; sister Martha Ramsey; son-in-law Jay Roberts.
The family wishes to express our heartfelt appreciation to Dollye's caregivers: Eddie Mae Scott, Sue Hanning, Anita Skinner, Lanna Terrell, Inez Jackson, Cathy and Jean Smith, as well as the entire staff of Home Hospice.
