Barbara Sue Yeargan
Barbara Sue Yeargan or Sue, as she was known, was sweet and caring, friendly, and generous. She was a very devout Christian who loved God and served Him well by always helping others in various ways. Sue was a loving wife to Larry for 58 years. She loved her family fiercely. Sue also loved children, especially those with special needs.
Sue was born on February 15, 1946 to Russell Willoughby and Dovie Hale Willoughby. She was born and raised in Ada, OK, the youngest of eleven siblings. She went to her eternal reward in heaven on Monday, September 16, 2024, at the age of seventy-eight years old.
Sue attended Summers Chapel Elementary School and graduated from Ada High School in 1964. She and Larry Yeargan were married on August 5, 1966 at the Calvary Church in Ada, OK. They were blessed with three children – Larry, Julie and Stephen. In the past, Sue worked at several different places, including Woolworth's and Wooster Funeral Home in Pauls Valley. She was a substitute teacher and served as an election worker in Garvin County. She was a realtor and also owned and operated Julie's Children Shops in Duncan and Lawton.
Sue accepted Jesus as her personal Savior when she was about ten years old. Throughout their marriage, she and Larry were active members and attendees of multiple Pentecostal Holiness Churches.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Dovie Willoughby; brothers, Marion Willoughby (Maxine); Dee Willoughby (Jewell); Junior Willoughby (Corine); Leroy Willoughby (Reva Sue), and sisters, Bonnie Lee (Bill); Juanita Frantz (Theo); Lavern Strawn (Henry); Bernice Edge (Herman); Lavell Nelson (Colby); Elsie Wilson (Herman); Mattie Willoughby, and many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Yeargan, Sr. of Pauls Valley, OK; son, Larry Yeargan, Jr. (Dana) of Duncan, OK, daughter, Julie Ely (Steve) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Stephen Yeargan of Pauls Valley, OK; grandchildren, Samuel Yeargan (Kelby); Talmadge Ely (Kelley); Ashton Drury (Kyle); Pake Stephens; Sheldon Yeargan, and Devin Ely (fiancé Joely), and nine great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be at 2 P.M. on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at A Place of New Hope Calvary Church, located at 930 W. 8th Street in Ada, OK. Services will be officiated by Rev. Toby Willoughby, Rev. Steve Ely, and Rev. Del Hunnicutt. The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, September 18, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Criswell Funeral Home, 815 Arlington Street, Ada, OK. Interment will be at Rosedale Cemetery, 2020 Egypt Road, Ada, OK.
