Dolores M. (Plummer) Carney, of Tewksbury, formerly of Stoneham, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 16, 2025. She was 94 years of age.
Dolores spent her early years in Malden with her parents, Thomas and Mildred, and her two brothers, Thomas and Richard. She often spent her days playing tennis at the courts across from her house. This turned into a lifetime love of the game and she made it a point to tune into the different professional tournaments every year.
She graduated from Malden High School and went on to work at John Hancock for several years before settling down to start a family with her beloved husband Philip. Dolores prided herself on being a devoted wife, homemaker, and mother to her four children. The kids often relied on her love of animals to keep the house filled with various pets. After her children were grown, she worked at Mass Bank in Reading where she was known for her warm and kind spirit.
Dolores was a dedicated Catholic and built a community of friends through St. Patrick’s Church in Stoneham. She even found a group of fellow parishioners that shared her love of traveling and adventure. With this group, she visited places such as Switzerland, Italy, and the Caribbean. In her spare time, Dolores loved to work on crafts such as sewing, beading, and scrapbooking. Above all else, Dolores loved to spend time with her grandchildren - especially if that time was spent watching Disney movies.
Dolores is the beloved wife of the late Philip J. Carney. She is the devoted mother of Kathleen M. Marifiote and her husband Warren, Philip J. Carney Jr. and his wife Robin, Michael T. Carney and his wife Susan, and Karen E. Marshall. Loving grandmother of Anthony Marifiote, Joseph Marifiote and his wife Tayla, Philip Carney, Lauren Carney, Krista Carney, Christine Faticanti and her husband Eric, Elise Berkman and her husband Jason, Michael Marshall and his wife Michaela, and Christina Leonardi and her husband Josh. Great grandmother of 13. Dear sister of the late Thomas and Richard Plummer. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with the family on Saturday November 22, 2025 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am in the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT28) STONEHAM followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Dolores' Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10 am.
