Dolores (Dee) Marie Cocozza, (nee Sjogren), age 79, of Atlantic City NJ passed away peacefully at home after a long illness. She was born on February 19, 1945, to Dolores Soto and Lauri Sjogren, in Wynnewood PA.
Dee attended Marple Newtown High School, in Broomall PA. After high school, Dee and her former spouse, Gene Fantini moved to Philadelphia, and had a son. Dee continued her education at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in their Dental Assistant Program. She was then hired by Aetna, as a claims specialist. Dee then settled in Williamstown NJ, and took her knowledge to Resorts International, and later Taj Mahal hotel and casino. She later moved to Atlantic City and became a Vice President at Custom Benefits Programs.
While in Atlantic City, Dee met and fell in love with a loving and caring man, John Cocozza. Dee and John married and settled in Egg Harbor Township NJ. Dee retired and indulged in her passions of arts and crafts, gardening, and cooking. Dee's famous meatballs were much sought after at family functions. Dee and John both loved animals and cared for many pets throughout their marriage.
A beloved mother and grandmother, Dee is survived by her son Marc Fantini (Wendy) and her grandchildren Luciano (Luke) and Cara Fantini. She is also survived by her brothers Edward Sjogren (Winfred Powell), and Harold Dennis; her nieces and nephews; their spouses and children; as well as many friends.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband John, her brothers Lauri (Larry) and George (Butch), and her sister Anne.
A celebration of life will be held a future date. At Dee's behest, her remains, along with John's will be scattered at sea.
