Dolores Pietrolungo, of Peekskill and formerly of Mahopac, passed away on July 19, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on May 10, 1955, in the Bronx, Dolores's early years were filled with the warmth of a close-knit community and the enduring love of her family.
Dolores was the cherished wife of Michael Pietrolungo, with whom she shared a love that blossomed from their marriage on Valentine's Day in 1976. Together, they built a life characterized by devotion and joy, and welcomed their loving children into the world. She was a nurturing mother to her daughter Lauren Cascioli and her husband Matthew, and to her sons Michael and Robert. Her grandchildren, Alyssa and Matthew Cascioli, were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her adoring siblings, Patricia Cannata and Camille Gitter, and Camille's husband Al. Dolores was a beloved aunt to several nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Concetta (Iarossi) Romano, who instilled in her the values of compassion and kindness that she carried with her throughout her life.
Dolores's interests and activities reflected her vibrant spirit and her commitment to her community. She was a passionate fan of "The Wizard of Oz," finding joy and inspiration in its timeless story. Her love for Bingo nights was well-known, as was her penchant for always having her nails impeccably done. Dolores's circle of friends was a testament to her loyalty and warmth, and she was a founding member of the "Duckettes," a group that shared countless memories and laughter.
Above all, Dolores's family was her life. She was the heart of every family gathering, and her thoughtful nature meant that she always placed the needs of others before her own. Her selfless acts were countless, and she never sought recognition for the comfort and support she so freely gave. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges and celebrations alike.
Those who knew Dolores will remember her for her unwavering kindness and her genuine concern for everyone she met. She was a woman who lived her faith, spreading love and positivity in all her interactions. Her legacy is one of unconditional love, a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
