DONNA- It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Domingo Aguirre Sr. known to family & friends as "Mingo". Born on March 10, 1963, to Santos and Amelia Aguirre, Domingo lived a life defined by hard work, unwavering love for his family, and a spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

From a young age, Domingo was drawn to working with his hands. He began working as a mechanic in his early teens and found joy in solving problems in all cars- a passion he would eventually pass on to his children. He graduated from Donna High School in 1981, and it was during those high school years that he met the love of his life - his sweetheart, who would one day become the mother of his three beautiful children.

Their love story began when Domingo, recovering from a small accident and on crutches, caught her eye. She carried his books, and he stole her heart with his warm smile and dimples. Their bond only grew stronger over the years, building a life rooted in love, resilience, and deep family values.

Domingo loved to travel and made memories across Arizona, Florida, Colorado, Corpus Christi, and Houston, always ensuring he brought back souvenirs for his loved ones. He never showed up anywhere empty-handed and was happiest when surrounded by family - whether at home or on the road.

Known as a strict father, Domingo's strength came from a place of deep love and commitment. His children will remember him as their first teacher and strongest protector. To his oldest son, he passed down the legacy of working on cars, preparing him to be a strong, capable man. With his only daughter, he shared wisdom and protection, ensuring she had everything she needed and teaching her how to care for her car before she moved away for college. For his youngest son, he became a mentor in plumbing, carpentry, and problem-solving - always encouraging him to think outside the box.

Though Domingo's formal education ended with high school, his intelligence - especially in math - was undeniable. He was a practical thinker, a skilled craftsman, and a master storyteller who often shared tales of his younger days, making his legacy richer with every memory told.

Above all else, Domingo valued family. He lived by the principle that family always comes first, and he carried that message into everything he did. He adored his grandchildren - dancing with them to his favorite '70s music, building them a water park in his yard, being a fixture at their events, and ensuring they were always safe, supported, and well loved. And of course, no birthday was complete without a stable post for their piñata - something only Grandpa Domingo could provide just right.

Domingo was a man who loved life and loved a good party. His warm heart, strong hands, quick wit, and boundless generosity touched the lives of many. Though he has left this world, the lessons he taught, the stories he told, and the love he gave will continue to live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived with deep sorrow by his wife, Gloria Alicia Aguirre; his mom, Amelia Aguirre; three children, Domingo (Olga Lydia) Aguirre Jr., Arlene (Sergio) Elizondo, Mark (Flor Ortega) Aguirre; five siblings, Rosa Castro, Maria Williams, Rodrigo "Gordo" Aguirre, Fabian Aguirre, Jose Manuel Aguirre; nine grandchildren, Holley Leanne Aguirre, Davian Gio Aguirre, Vincent Mingo Aguirre, Domingo Aguirre III, Sophia Arlene Elizondo, Sergio Alberto Elizondo Jr., Adalyn Rae Aguirre, Asher Aguirre, Joseph Reyna; many more family and friends.

He is welcomed in heaven by his dad, Santos Aguirre Jr., and two brothers, Pablo Aguirre and Narciso Aguirre.

A viewing will be held at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 from 5pm to 9pm with a prayer service at 6pm. A funeral service will be held at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 10am followed by burial at Val Verde Memorial Gardens.
