Obituary of Dominica Julia Romeo

TROY -

Dominica Romeo Scott, age 48, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of Judith Hogan (Diallo) and the late Richard Scott.

Dominica was a 1996 graduate of Fonda-Fultonville High School. She was quietly contemplative and mild-mannered, best known for her gentle and patient nature, which made her especially beloved by small children and timid animals. A talented artist, Dominica had her artwork displayed in school hallways since the fourth grade. In addition to painting and sketching, she loved to dance and could often be found dancing the night away with her best friend, Sue, at local clubs throughout the late 1990s and 2000s. But her absolute favorite way to spend her time was with her daughter, Kaylee Becker, the love of her life.

In addition to her mother and daughter, Dominica is survived by her siblings, Nakia, Jarod, Aaron, and Jake; her adoring aunt, Carla; her best friend to the end, Sue Luraas; her maternal grandfather, Jerry Romeo; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

We'd like to thank Erin & Jon from the Center for Donation & Transplant for their kind guidance during this emotional time, and the ICU medical staff at Samaritan Hospital for their gentle care of Dominica and the support of her family.

In keeping with Dominica's love of nature, flowers are appreciated. Memorial contributions may also be made to The Center for Donation & Transplant, 218 Great Oaks Blvd, Albany, NY 12203, or the American Lung Association.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend Dominica's memorial gathering on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Simple Choices, Inc. & Riverview Funeral Home, located at: 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy, NY 12180.
