Dominick Episcopo, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024, at the age of 85, in Toms River, NJ. Born on May 30, 1939, in Orange, NJ, Dominick's life was a testament to his good nature, creativity, and the joy he brought to everyone.
Dominick was born and raised in Orange, NJ. He later moved to Verona, NJ, where he started his own family with his wife Roselyn, before ultimately finding his forever home in Toms River in 1986.
A proud Navy veteran, Dominick served his country from 1957 to 1961 aboard an aircraft carrier, receiving an honorable discharge for his dedicated service. After his service, he met Roselyn Gaeta (Episcopo), the love of his life and married her soon after.
He opened Don's Hair Styling in Caldwell, NJ, where he spent the next 30 years mastering a craft that would define his professional life. His barber shop became a local staple, a place where clients became friends.
Dominick brought his creativity to all parts of his life. He loved making costumes for Halloween, that would often win contests and would take great pride in his Christmas tree. His artistic talents extended to his love and talent for painting, which he rediscovered in the last few years of his life. He captured the beauty of life in watercolor, and to gardening, where his green thumb brought forth vibrant orchids and lush landscapes.
Life down the shore was where Dominick felt most at home. He cherished the simple pleasures of crabbing in his backyard, boating, and fishing. These moments by the water were when he felt most at peace, surrounded by nature and the company of loved ones.
Dominick's legacy is carried on by his son, Dominic J. Episcopo (Dawn), and his adoring grandchildren, Christopher Velardo, Dominick Velardo, and Lorenz "Enzo" Episcopo. He was the love in their lives, and his guidance will be deeply missed. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Dominick was predeceased by his beloved wife, Roselyn Episcopo, his daughter Michele Velardo, and his parents, Philip and Nicholena Episcopo. He was the last of his siblings, joining Anna Zuppa, Josephine Gill, Mary Mercadante, Phyllis Carras, Joseph Episcopo, and Grace Culver in eternal rest.
To know Dominick was to know joy. He was a great man, not just in the eyes of his family, but to everyone who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him. His fun-loving nature and zest for life made every encounter with him a memorable one.
As we say goodbye to Dominick Episcopo, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, a life filled with love, creativity, and service. His spirit will continue to inspire us, reminding us to embrace the beauty in the world, to nurture our passions, and to cherish the time we have with our loved ones.

Compassion and love of his beautiful wife. Truly a wonderful man. His love of painting and filling his wife´s room with different paintings for each season.
He did show me some of them and they were truly beautiful.
