Joyce Perna

Joyce (Klein) Perna, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 22nd, at the age of 88.

Joyce was born in Newark,NJ, had a brother Amiel, sister Priscilla, and graduated from West Side High School. Joyce's partner in crime since grammar school was her best friend Annette, whom she shared many adventures with throughout her life, including many trips to Seaside Park and being together when Joyce met her future husband Nick.

Joyce dedicated herself to her family, having 3 children, Michael, Christine, and Linda. In the early years she was a "skating mother," found sipping coffee in cold ice rinks at 6:00 in the morning while her daughter Linda skated. Then, as the grandkids were born, you would find Joyce in her beautiful backyard in Wall, swimming in the pool with her kids and grandchildren. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family and was a source of unwavering love and support.

Joyce had a few careers and excelled at all of them. She and her friend Pat owned the Sandpiper Jewelry Boutique in Peddlers Village. Joyce loved jewelry and would often have 4 rings on one hand. After that, she became a realtor and then in her later years, a teacher's aide at Tiny World Nursery School, which she did till 75 years old! She loved that job because her secret passion was to become a teacher. Her youngest grandson, Vincent, was a student there and she watched him for hours, so her daughter Linda could attend nursing school. She was selfless and untiring all the days of her life.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Linda, son in law, Ronald, grandchildren Joseph, Nicholas, Michelle, Lea, Vincent, and her great grandson, Jayson. She is preceded in death by her husband Nicholas, grandson Ronnie, son Michael, daughter Christine, brother Amiel, and sister Priscilla.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 28th, 10:00, at St. Dominic's church in Brick.
