John Mulqueen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Silverton Memorial Funeral Home - Toms River on Aug. 27, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

John "Jack" M. Mulqueen passed away on August 25, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on August 9, 1944, in Jersey City, NJ, Jack was a devoted husband and father, a loyal friend, and a valued member of the Jersey Iron Motorcycle Club, carrying forth a legacy built on respect, diligence, and kindness.

Jack was a United States Army Veteran, and then dedicated many years to the United States Postal Service as a respected mail carrier. He became a familiar and friendly face on his routes, recognizable to all as "Mailman Jack," forging lasting relationships with those on his daily journeys.

Jack found joy and solace in riding his motorcycle alongside his close-knit group of friends, who called him "Captain Jack." His love for the open road was matched by his appreciation for nature, especially the Green Mountains of Vermont, where he often spent his summers. Jack was a lifelong animal lover who dedicated much of his time to caring for many furry pets and supporting shelters.

Jack is survived by his loving son, John, and his wife Iwona Mulqueen; and a devoted daughter, Ginneen, and her husband Gary Schadwill, his grand children Justin, Ashley, Carly, Maya, and Maxx, and his great-grandson Christopher, as well as his sisters Joanne Saltarelli and Lynne Mauer.

Jack is predeceased by his beloved wife of 40 years, Joanie, his parents, John and Irene Mulqueen, as well as his brother Charlie.

Jack gave as much love as he received-and then some. As the sun sets on his life, those he left behind count themselves lucky to have known his Papa Bear heart, benefited from his cooking, marveled at his uncanny organizational skills, and-most memorably-have been on the receiving end of his sarcastic wit and perfectly timed one-liners.

In lieu of flowers, Jack would appreciate your donations to the WoundedWarriorProject.Org or AmericanHumane.Org as those are two of the charities he supported his entire life.
