Dominick Del "Dom" Vecchio

It is with great affection and profound respect that we announce the passing of Dominick "Dom" J. Del Vecchio. Dom left us peacefully on May 11, 2025, in Danbury, Connecticut, at the age of 87, surrounded by the love of his family.
Dom's life began on July 5, 1937, in New York City as the son of Gennaro and Rosa Del Vecchio. He was predeceased by his siblings: Mary, Elisa, and Tony. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Patricia (Jira) Del Vecchio. Together, they raised a beautiful family and influenced their children, Laura (Kevin) Doyle, Donna (Seth) Brandow, Rose (Pete) Carbocci and Brenda (Anthony) DeBellis.
Dom proudly served with the NYPD for 21 years at the 45th Precinct in the Bronx, demonstrating his dedication to protecting and serving the community. After his police service, he ventured into new endeavors, working for American Can Company before eventually finding his greatest professional joy in driving a bus for the Brewster Central School District.
Although his love for his family was the highlight of his existence, appreciating music, tending to his flower garden, collecting watches and clocks, and admiring the birds from his favorite chair were some of the simple pleasures of life that he enjoyed. He was a highly intelligent man and had a passion for reading; the dictionary was his favorite book! An avid NY sports fan and supporter of the Giants, Mets, and Rangers, he was quick to remind us that the Buffalo Bills are a NY team as well.
His passion for life included special moments dancing the Lindy with his wife, Patsy, playing cards with dear friends, and cherishing time with his grandchildren: Nick & Gregg Doyle, Ross Brandow & Olivia (Josh) Newcombe, Dan (Ashley) & Scott (Taylor) Janke. He adored his great-grandchildren, Sienna and Cameron, and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of two more.
His legacy endures in those who knew him. His teaching of important life lessons and his many words of wisdom will live on in the hearts of his four daughters. We celebrate a life well lived with his true love of 66 years, his beloved wife, Patsy!
