Don L. Anderson, 86, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023, in his home. Don was born August 20, 1937, in Caroll, Iowa to the late Hilmer "Tim" Anderson and Elda (Harmson) Anderson. Don moved to Missouri in 1952 and graduated from Carthage High School in 1955. He served in the Missouri National Guard for 9 years. In 1957 Don started a business with his father in Carthage, Missouri for 30 years before relocating his family business, Anderson Car and Tractor, to Joplin, Missouri. He enjoyed spending time traveling, boating, camping and spending time with his family.
On June 8, 1959, he married his best friend, Patricia Shaw, and from this union two sons were born: Michael Alen and James "Jim" Lee.
Don is preceded in death by his son, Michael Anderson and sister, Marilyn Good.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Anderson of Joplin, Missouri; son, Jim Anderson and wife, Marty Anderson of Carthage, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Debra Anderson of Joplin, Missouri; his grandchildren, Jonathon Anderson, Justin Anderson, Amber Grantham, Samantha Cooper, Cotton Thomas, Cody Anderson, and Dalton Anderson; and 13 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Webb City, Missouri. A Celebration of Life, with food provided, will follow services at 4606 County Road 110, Carthage, Missouri. All family and friends are welcome to come.
Contributions may be made to the Carthage Humane Society in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
