It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Don Andy Bierbower, a beloved husband, father, educator, and friend, who left this world peacefully on August 4, 2025, at the age of 90.

Born on January 13, 1935, in Moody, Missouri, Don moved to Downey, California at a young age. Don graduated in 1957 with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Baptist Bible College, followed by a second Bachelor's degree in 1961 from La Verne College. He achieved his Master's degree in Education in 1971 from Southern Oregon University, reflecting his unwavering pursuit of knowledge and his commitment to shaping young minds. Over the course of 40 years, Don touched the lives of countless children through his teaching positions first at Bloomingdale School District and Westside Union School District in Southern California, and later as a beloved substitute teacher for Illinois Valley Schools in Oregon for ten years.

In Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 13, 1983, Don married the love of his life, Jorene Aamodt. Together, they built a beautiful life, initially in Lancaster, California, before moving to Selma in 1990, Oregon, and finally settling in Grants Pass in 2013. Don's love for his family, including his wife Jorene and his stepchildren-Wendy Diggle, Charles Jolin, Antoinette Davis, Donna Powell (Aamodt), and Judy Allen-was evident in everything he did. He was also a proud uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, a cherished grandfather to eight grandchildren, and a devoted great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren.

A faithful member of the Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Don lived by the guiding principle: "To live is Christ; to die is gain." His deep faith and spirit of generosity inspired all who knew him.

Don is survived by his beloved wife, Jorene, of Grants Pass, Oregon; his devoted sister, Phyllis Stewart, of Goodyear, Arizona; his loving stepchildren; and a large extended family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Frona Bierbower; his brothers, Carroll and Paul Bierbower; and his sisters, Iris Todd and Freida Page.

A memorial service will be held on September 6, 2025 at 1pm at Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church, which is located at 2033 Harbeck Road, Grants Pass, Oregon 97527. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring the legacy of a truly compassionate man, whose commitment to education and love for others will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
