Don Allen Bircket, a devoted family man, left this world peacefully at home on March 22, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 17, 1940, in Orlando, Oklahoma, Don lived a life rich with experiences that left an indelible mark on those who were fortunate to know him.

For over 20 years, he served diligently as part of the Ditch Witch team in Perry, where he tested equipment and collaborated closely with engineers. His intelligence and knack for understanding machinery demonstrated his profound skills and dedication to his craft. However, Don’s essence extended far beyond his professional accomplishments.

An avid farmer, Don operated a farm that he held dear to his heart. He worked with determination, raising horned Hereford cattle and growing wheat. His spirit for agriculture was beautifully intertwined with family, as he often reminisced about the times spent hauling hay with his children and grandchildren, filling those moments with laughter and love. The memories of rabbit hunting adventures with his son Dale are forever etched in the hearts of his loved ones, embodying the playful and ornery side of his personality.

Educated in Mulhall, Oklahoma, Don was a proud member of the class of 1958. He embraced music, playing the coronet in the school band, and developed a strong character as a member of the Future Farmers of America. His pursuit of knowledge continued at OSU in Stillwater, where he studied chemistry and forestry before life’s obligations led him down another path.

Don was more than just a hardworking farmer; he was an adventurer at heart. A licensed pilot, he had a passion for flying small airplanes, helicopters, and ultralights. His spirit was complemented by a love of deer hunting, making his life an adventurous tapestry woven with threads of outdoor exploration and camaraderie.

A dedicated soldier, Don served in the ROTC at OSU and took pride in his time with the Army National Guard at Fort Riley, Kansas, in the early 1960s. His commitment to service reflected his character; he was both a provider and protector, embodying the strength and resilience that defined his life.

On June 17, 1967, Don married the love of his life, Shirley Rosetta Griffith Bircket, at the Lightning Ridge Baptist Church near Roff, Oklahoma. Their bond was a cornerstone of his life, filled with affection, respect, and mutual support. Together they raised a beautiful family, including their son Dale Allyn Bircket of Orlando, and daughters Terri Ann Varley and her husband Richard of Texas, and Rosetta Dawn Harris and her husband Paul of Orlando. His grandchildren—Marie Bircket, Danny Schmitt, Gianna Bircket, Donald Varley, C.J. Varley, John Proffitt, William Spotted Horsechief, Jr., Spencer Harris, A.J. Spotted Horsechief, Rachel Harris—and the time with seven great-grandchildren brought him immense joy. His sister Donna Maxine Crabtree and her husband Bill as well as a host of nieces and nephews will miss him dearly. Each family member was a bright star in his life, amplifying his legacy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen Max Bircket and Velma Clara Harper Bircket; his beloved grandson Brian Scott Bircket; grandson Dale Allyn Bircket, Jr.; and brother Max Dale Bircket and his wife Ruthy. Their absence is felt deeply as they would have cherished the stories of Don's laughter and love for life.

Don Allen Bircket will be remembered not only for his contributions as a hardworking man and loving family member but also for his playful spirit that resonated throughout his life. Friends and loved ones are invited to attend viewings at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.

As we say goodbye, we carry forth the countless memories and the profound impact he made in our lives. The world is a little dimmer without him, but we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and adventure.
