Don served as Second Class Petty Officer with Patrol Squadron Seven in the U.S. Navy in Aerial Anti-Submarine Warfare for four years. His vision created a time of unprecedented growth and added thousands of new industrial and retail jobs. Just a few of his accomplishments include: the Music City Star, improved roadways including the I-40 South Hartmann interchange and by-pass, developed the I-840 corridor and was very instrumental in the Nashville Speedway coming to Wilson County. Don had a vision for our future and worked very hard to serve the citizens of Wilson County.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather who will be sorely missed by his family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Maple Hill Church of Christ. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Bro. Mayor Fox was the first person I met when we moved here in 2003. He was so gracious and welcoming. I never forgot that. Hugs and prayers to his family. Heaven is now blessed with his presence.

I worked with and for Don many years. Always had my respect. He was a good man and good public servant.

I was in 4th grade when I first met Mayor Fox. I remember feeling like the president had walked into my classroom. Roughly 20 years later Don sat in my barber chair the first time. I remember being so intimated by this particular haircut. As time went on he and I developed a friendship that I can cherish forever. I'm grateful he is no longer suffering, but saddened that our joking banter at the barber shop has to end here. So thank you Mayor not just for what you did in your service to the community but also as a customer and friend. If you happen to find Leon up there Double Dog him once again. The seasons right for another good polar plunge from the highboard!
