Don Jackson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edwards Funeral Home & Cremations - Kinston on Jan. 2, 2026.
Don William Jackson, 87, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in his hometown of Kinston, North Carolina. He was born on November 12, 1938, in Kinston to Albert Green Jackson and Lucinda Kennedy Jackson. Don was an ordained minister of the gospel and was bold in sharing his faith, anywhere and anytime.
Don was preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Kathleen Jackson, his second wife of 25 years, Gertrude Jenkins Jackson, his son, John David Jackson, Daughter-in-Law, Laurie Jackson of Wilmington, and seven of his siblings.
He is survived by his son, Bruce Jackson, of Raleigh, his daughter, Donna Martin, of Kinston, his daughter, Debra Wiggins (Robert), of Kinston, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his sister, Rev. Geraldine Emory, age 96, who is the last living sibling of nine.
Don was a butcher by trade and meat department manager at several local businesses such as Harvey's and Piggly Wiggly in Kinston, and Teachey's in Pink Hill. He could often be found reading his Bible and singing praise and worship songs. He especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren, playing football with them and taking them swimming. In his quieter moments, Don enjoyed watching classic Westerns and The Andy Griffith Show on television and was an avid boxing fan. He will be remembered for his faith-filled life and dedication to God.
A visitation will be held beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Edwards Funeral Home in Kinston, North Carolina, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. The burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital for Children at PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394, or a charity of one's choice in Don's honor.
