Don Edwin Lee, 80, of Fort Worth, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
Born on November 23, 1943, in Fort Worth to Charles “Jack” and Jewel Lee, Don grew up in Keller, Texas. He graduated from Keller High School and earned a business degree from the University of North Texas.
On February 18, 1966, Don married the love of his life, Lottie Cole Lee. Together, they built a home in Colleyville, where they raised four children: Susan, Don Jr., Ricky, and Michael.
Professionally, Don spent his career as an independent insurance agent, founding Don Lee Insurance. He served on the board of directors for Tri-County Electric Co-Op and was actively involved in the community through organizations such as the Lions Club. He also contributed to the historic preservation and upkeep of the Elizabethtown Cemetery in Roanoke, where many of his family members are laid to rest.
A lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, Don was known for his engaging conversations and great sense of humor. He explored many hobbies but never lingered on any one for too long. He was always eager to embrace the latest technological innovations, often being the first in the neighborhood to acquire a new gadget, like a VCR or a personal computer. In his younger days, he enjoyed traveling and loved sailing on Lake Bridgeport. Some of his most cherished memories were made during family vacations in Rockport.
Don is preceded in death by his wife Lottie, his parents, his brother Robert Lee, and his niece Michele Kelley.
He is survived by his brother, Charles Lee; his daughter, Susan (Criss) Dippel; his sons, Don Jr. (Amy), Ricky (Kristi), and Michael (Khristine); eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family who were dear to his heart. Special mention goes to his beloved dogs, Sissy and Chico, who always made sure he had a warm lap.
Family and friends will gather from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Lucas Funeral Home of Keller, 1601 S Main St, Keller, TX 76248. A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m.
