Don W. Mosier, 78, of Howe, IN, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
He was born on January 26, 1947, to the late, Donald and Helen Maxine (Smith) Mosier.
A lifelong resident of the Howe area, Don devoted his career to education and music. He taught English at Sturgis High School in Sturgis, MI, and later served as an English professor at Glen Oaks Community College and Ivy Tech. In addition to teaching, Don owned and operated a music store for many years, where he shared his love of instruments and song with others. He was also a tinkerer, often found repairing guitars and watches or crafting Native American medicine bags.
Known by many simply as "Cowboy," Don was easily recognized by his leather vest and the pipe tucked in his shirt pocket. He was a passionate collector of antiques, guitars, and smoking pipes. An avid storyteller and conversationalist, he loved connecting with people and sharing a good tale. Don also cherished time spent with his dogs and horses, who brought him great joy throughout his life.
Surviving are his three daughters, Cecelia (Eric) Troyer of Manhattan, KS; Jesse Mosier of Ontario, IN; and Madison (Karalie) Hensley of Indianapolis, IN; and two grandsons, Jasper and Jude Troyer.
A graveside service will be announced and take place at Riverside Cemetery in Howe, IN.
