Decatur ~ Don Phillips, 85, of Justin, went to be with our Lord Saturday, January 25, 2025 in Justin.
Funeral service is 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8th, at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hr. prior to the service.
Pastor Roxanne Alexander will officiate.
Don was born on March 28, 1939 to Joseph and Lucille (Reed) Phillips in Pasadena, TX. He was united in marriage to CarolLee Mellema on December 27, 1969 in Richardson. They shared over 55 wonderful years together and raised 5 amazing children. Don retired from Ford Motor Company as a Human Resource officer to spend time with his beloved family and friends. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and a friend to many that will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lucille Phillips; and his son, David Phillips; his brother, David Phillips and infant brother, Duwayne Joe Phillips.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 yrs CarolLee Phillips of Justin; his son, Reed Phillips and wife Alisa of Thorton; his daughter in law, Allison Phillips of Austin; his step sons, Cary Mellema and wife Cara of Aurora, and Dean Mellema of Jacksboro; his step daughter, Gayna Mellema of Rhome; his 11 grandchildren, Nathanael, Cody, Delaney, Sally, Ellie, Lucy, Liam, Justin, Jacob, Brad, and Eileen; his great grandchildren, Chloe, Brody, and Haley; his brother, Dan Phillips; his sister, D’Anne Phillips; and a numerous extended family; many of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
