Don Byron Rogers, known to his loved ones as Don, passed away on August 19, 2023, in Roy, Utah. He was born on July 10, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Don was a fun-loving and adventurous person who enjoyed trying new things and embracing new experiences. He also cherished his moments of solitude.
In his educational journey, Don attended Emerson Elementary School and East High School. He furthered his studies at Ricks College (now BYU Idaho), The University of Utah, Boise State University, and Ogden Weber Applied Technology, where he obtained certifications as a Novel Computer Engineer and Network Manager.
Throughout his career, Don held various positions that allowed him to explore different cities and environments. He worked as a computer programmer and accountant for Albertsons in Boise, Idaho, where he felt like a big fish in a small pond. He then moved to San Diego, California, where he worked at a hospital and experienced being a small fish in a big pond. Don also lived and worked in Yuma, Arizona, enjoying the beautiful days that the city offered. His final move brought him back to Utah, where he worked in IT for JCPenney.
Outside of work, Don's true passion lay in the great outdoors. He found joy in camping, hiking, and river rafting, immersing himself in the beauty of nature.
Don is survived by his loving sisters Margaret (Rogers) and John Ashby, Sandra (Rogers) and Richard Ottesen, and Coleen (Rogers) and Stan Serr, as well as many nieces and nephews. He joins his parents Leo and Norma Rogers, sisters Merilyn (Rogers) and Jerry Rogers, Arlene (Rogers) Jones, and brother Leo (Lee) Abbott Rogers, along with five nephews and one niece, who have preceded him in death.
Don's wish was to be cremated and for there to be no services held. Unfortunately, his body could not be donated to the University of Utah Medical Center as he had desired. In light of this, contributions towards Don's final needs can be made through Myers Mortuary in Ogden, Utah. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. To donate, please click on the donation button at the top of the obituary.
Don will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love for the outdoors, and his kind and giving nature. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
