Donald Biron Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Donald R. "Pop" Biron was born on June 11,1939 to Della Hayner and Millard Biron.
Donald married the love of his life, Kathleen A. Ellis, on January 9, 1958. Together, they lived a busy and fulfilling life until her passing in 2019. Donald retired from General Electric after 30 years of employment.
Donald spent most of his life outdoors – hunting, trapping, and fishing. Some of "Possum's" best moments were spent with his hunting buddies on the "sharp corner" or at hunting camp. Donald was a founding member of the Royal Mountain Moonlighters ATV Club, a member of the NYS Trappers Association and a lifetime member of the Ephratah Rod and Gun Club. Donald spent many years raising award winning hounds. He was a member of the Tri-City Coon Hunters Association. He and his hound, Ridge Running Beau, were a part of the Coon Walker Society and water racing champions. For many years, he was the City of Johnstown Water Department's Official Trapper.
Donald was a huge sports fan all his life. He was a very proud member of the 1956 Johnstown High School Sir Bills undefeated football team. He was also a Glove Cities Colonials Hall of Famer and coached many Little League football and baseball teams. Donald was an avid supporter of Johnstown High School Sports. It was rare that there was a wrestling match he wasn't in the bleachers for or a field hockey, football, or baseball game where he wasn't on the sidelines.
Donald is survived by his children, Donald J. Biron (Karin), Kelly J. Gregorio (Scott), James M. Biron (Louise), and Margaret A. Ambridge, his grandchildren, William, Jacob, Nathan, McKenzie, Amy, James, Lucas, Jason, Adam, and Abigail, as well as his great-grandchildren, Lily, Briella, Orion, Nova, Waylon, Tallulah, and Rowen. Donald is also survived by his many friends in the community and his beloved pup, Penny.
Donald was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Kathleen, and his grandchildren, Quinn K. Hart, and Zachary F. Biron.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc.,,215 E. Main street, Johnstown, NY, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 PM with Pastor Ron Talbott officiating.
